Photography for Beginners Group Workshop
Wave goodbye to your camera’s auto settings and start taking fantastic pictures
The original Shooting Copenhagen Photography Workshop!
Welcome to where it all started; our most in-demand photography workshop: the Photography for Beginners Group Workshop.
We’ve been teaching this three-hour class in the streets and parks of Copenhagen since the very beginning, and there’s a reason it’s so popular.
Prior photographic knowledge or experience isn’t necessary to take part, making it perfect for those of you who are just starting to discover the capabilities of your digital camera.
Plus, it’s a great way to meet like-minded people.
Who Can Take Part?
Anyone who wants to improve their photography skills in a group environment.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a tourist on holiday in Copenhagen, an expat living in Denmark or a born-and-bred Dane (with a good grasp of the English language).
All you need is a digital camera – preferably an SLR, but a standard point-and-shoot is fine – and a desire to learn outdoors.
The Experience
Workshops take place on the first Saturday of the month, from 10am til 1pm (see here for a list of available dates).
We meet in the bar area inside Generator Hostel on Adelgade – just a short walk from the popular Nyhavn and Kongens Nytorv district.
A typical group workshop looks like this:
- 10am – Coffee and introduction to the workshop
- 45 minutes – Exploring the camera functions, lens and basic settings
- 11am – Hit the streets to learn about portraits, ambient light, white balance and angles
- 11.30am – Head to Rosenborg Castle and Gardens to practice zoom, perspective and composition techniques
- 12.30pm – Return to Generator Hostel for a debrief
*= Indoors = Outdoors
With group sizes no larger than five per workshop, you can expect support from Matthew whenever you need it.
At the end of the workshop, everyone receives a PDF containing the most important takeaways from the day. This is a fantastic tool to help remind you of the skills that we’ve discussed.
